Montville has a Public Works Department that is overseen by the Road Commissioner, who is appointed each year by the Select Board
Road Commissioner
Montville's Road Commissioner is in charge of the Public Works Department and is appointed every year by the Select Board. Duties of the Road Commissioner include overseeing repairs of the roads in Town, upkeeping Town owned equipment, working with residents new or old to make sure the culverts underneath roadways and driveways are appropriately sized and clear, and working directly with any and all contractors the Town hires for road maintenance or snow plowing.

Winter Road Maintenance
Montville Hires Snowplow Contractors to keep all the roads plowed during the winter months. These contracts last for 3-year terms. Currently there are four contractors whose contract goes from 2022-2025.

If you need to report any road conditions that are unsafe or need immediate attention, please contact the Road Commissioner Richard Peavey (322-6644) who will get in touch with the Contractor responsible for that road.
Summer Road Maintenance
During the summer months the Road Commissioner is hard at work improving and maintaining the roads. You can look here to see a current road priority list.
Resident Sand Pile
During the winter months, each resident household is allowed to have two five-gallon buckets of sand per storm for personal use. This sand shed is located to left of the Public Works Garage. Please Stay Out of the Large Sand Shed that the Contractors use regularly during the winter months. Its unsafe for residents.

Driveway Notification Form
One of the duties of the Road Commissioner is to make sure that all new driveways on to public roads have the proper sized culvert to not cause any issues around drainage in order to maintain the underpinning of the roadways. Please use the form below to notify the Road Commissioner of any new driveways or entrances on to a public road.
